Beautiful agapanthus flowers blooming all over the bay area in California caught my eye. Love these vibrant blue and purple flowers that just sing as they sway on their long stems in the summer breeze and sparkle with light as the sun touches their petals.
Agapanthus also known as the “love flower” or “lily of the nile” is the only genus in the subfamily Agapanthoideae of the flowering plant family Amaryllidaceae. The family is in the monocot order Asparagales. The name is derived from scientific Greek: αγάπη (agape) = love, άνθος (anthos) = flower.
